This workshop describes what heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback is, explores its importance, and introduces potential uses for HRV training. The workshop will review: • the biomedical research supporting HRV as a marker for resilience and well-being • current well-documented applications for HRV biofeedback • innovative uses of HRV biofeedback at the cutting edge of today's biofeedback practice. The workshop will include case studies of individuals with pediatric anxiety disorder, multiple sclerosis, lupus, and public speaking anxiety, who benefited from HRV biofeedback. In each case the HRV biofeedback will be described as part of an overall integrative treatment plan, including self-directed behavior and life style changes, the acquisition of skills, and biofeedback.
